Bendiciones para el lector
1-2 Dios le ha mostrado a Jesucristo lo que pronto sucederá, para que él se lo enseñe a sus servidores. Por eso Jesucristo se lo ha comunicado a Juan, su servidor, por medio de un ángel; y Juan ha puesto por escrito toda la verdad.
3 ¡Dios bendiga a quien lea en público este mensaje! ¡Y bendiga también a los que lo escuchen y lo obedezcan! ¡Ya viene el día en que Dios cumplirá todo lo que se anuncia en este libro!
Saludo
4-5 Yo, Juan, saludo a las siete iglesias que están en la provincia de Asia. Dios es el que vive, el que siempre ha vivido, y el que está por venir. Deseo que Dios y Jesucristo, y los siete espíritus que están delante de su trono, los amen a ustedes y les den su paz. Podemos confiar en que Jesucristo nos ama y dice la verdad acerca de Dios. Él fue el primero en resucitar, y es también el que gobierna sobre todos los reyes de la tierra.
Por medio de la muerte de Jesucristo, Dios nos ha perdonado nuestros pecados. 6 Además, Cristo nos permite gobernar como reyes, y nos ha puesto como sacerdotes al servicio de Dios su Padre. Por eso, ¡alaben todos a Jesucristo, y que solo él tenga todo el poder del mundo! Amén.
7 ¡Miren!
¡Cristo viene en las nubes!
Todos lo verán venir,
aun los que lo mataron;
y todos los habitantes del mundo
llorarán por él.
Así sucederá. Amén.
8 El Señor todopoderoso, el que vive y siempre ha vivido, y que está por llegar, dice: «Yo soy el principio y el fin».
Visión sobre Jesucristo
9 Yo, Juan, soy su hermano en Cristo, pues ustedes y yo confiamos en él. Y por confiar en él, pertenezco al reino de Dios, lo mismo que ustedes; tengo los mismos problemas y dificultades, pero también tengo la fuerza que Dios nos da para soportar esos sufrimientos. Por anunciar el mensaje de Dios y hablar de Jesucristo fui enviado a la isla de Patmos. 10 Pero un domingo quedé bajo el poder del Espíritu Santo. Entonces escuché detrás de mí una voz muy fuerte, que sonaba como una trompeta. 11 Esa voz me dijo: «Escribe en un libro lo que ves, y envíalo a las siete iglesias de la provincia de Asia, es decir, a las iglesias de Éfeso, Esmirna, Pérgamo, Tiatira, Sardes, Filadelfia y Laodicea.»
12 Cuando me volví para ver quién me hablaba, vi siete candelabros de oro. 13 En medio de los candelabros vi a alguien que parecía ser Jesús, el Hijo del hombre. Vestía una ropa que le llegaba hasta los pies, y a la altura del pecho llevaba un cinturón de oro. 14 Su cabello era tan blanco como la lana, y hasta parecía estar cubierto de nieve. Sus ojos parecían llamas de fuego, 15 y sus pies brillaban como el bronce que se funde en el fuego y luego se pule. Su voz resonaba como enormes y estruendosas cataratas. 16 En su mano derecha tenía siete estrellas, y de su boca salía una espada delgada y de doble filo. Su cara brillaba como el sol de mediodía.
17 Al verlo, caí a sus pies como muerto. Pero él puso su mano derecha sobre mí, y me dijo:
«No tengas miedo. Yo soy el primero y el último, 18 y estoy vivo. Estuve muerto, pero ahora vivo para siempre, y tengo poder sobre la muerte.
19 »Escribe lo que has visto, tanto lo que ahora sucede como lo que sucederá después. 20 Yo te explicaré el significado secreto de las siete estrellas que viste en mi mano, y de los siete candelabros de oro. Las siete estrellas representan a los ángeles de las siete iglesias, y los siete candelabros representan a las siete iglesias.
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. 4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; 13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; 20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
