Habla el profeta
1-2 1-2 (2-3) Oseas le dijo al pueblo:
«¡Israel, Israel,
tu maldad te ha hecho caer!
¡Arrepiéntete y regresa a tu Dios!
Llega ante él con esta oración:
“Dios mío,
tú eres bueno;
¡perdona nuestros pecados
y acepta nuestras alabanzas!
3 3 (4) Asiria no puede salvarnos,
ni con todos sus carros de guerra,
así que no volveremos a adorar
a dioses que hemos fabricado.
Solo en ti, Dios nuestro,
encuentra el huérfano ternura”».
Dios promete bendecir a su pueblo
4 4 (5) Dios les dijo a los israelitas:
«Ya mi enojo se ha calmado.
Ahora voy a mostrarles cuánto los amo
y no volverán a ser rebeldes.
5-6 5-6 (6-7) Haré que prosperen.
Seré para ustedes como el rocío,
que hace florecer a los lirios.
Los haré crecer como un árbol;
así echarán profundas raíces
y extenderán sus hermosas ramas;
tendrán la belleza de los olivos
y el grato aroma de los cedros.
7 7 (8) Todos vivirán en paz
bajo la sombra de su árbol;
volverán a cultivar sus campos,
verán florecer sus viñas
y disfrutarán del aroma del monte Líbano.
8 8 (9) »Israelitas,
dejen ya esos ídolos inútiles.
¡Yo seré quien los cuide
y quien escuche sus oraciones!
Yo les daré sombra como un pino,
y en mí encontrarán bienestar».
Mensaje final del libro
9 9 (10) Si alguien es inteligente y sabio,
debe prestar atención a este mensaje.
Todo lo que Dios hace es correcto,
y la gente buena sigue su ejemplo.
¡Pero los malvados son desobedientes
y por eso Dios los destruye!
1 O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. 2 Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips. 3 Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.
4 ¶ I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him. 5 I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. 6 His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon. 7 They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.
8 Ephraim shall say , What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him , and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found. 9 Who is wise, and he shall understand these things ? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.
