Dar
1 »Cuando ustedes hagan una buena acción, no lo anuncien por todos lados; de lo contrario, Dios su Padre no les dará ningún premio.
2 »Si alguno de ustedes ayuda a los pobres, no se ponga a publicarlo en las sinagogas ni en los lugares por donde pasa la gente; eso lo hacen los hipócritas, que quieren que la gente los alabe. Les aseguro que ese es el único premio que ustedes recibirán.
3 »Cuando alguno de ustedes ayude a los pobres, no se lo cuente a nadie. 4 Así esa ayuda se mantendrá en secreto, y Dios el Padre, que conoce ese secreto, les dará a ustedes su premio.
Jesús enseña a orar
(Lc 11.2-4)5 »Cuando ustedes oren, no hagan como los hipócritas. A ellos les encanta que la gente los vea orar. Por eso oran de pie en las sinagogas y en los lugares por donde pasa mucha gente. Pueden estar seguros de que no tendrán otra recompensa.
6 »Cuando alguno de ustedes ore, hágalo a solas. Vaya a su cuarto, cierre la puerta y hable allí en secreto con Dios, su Padre, pues él da lo que se le pide en secreto.
7 »Cuando ustedes oren, no usen muchas palabras, como hacen los que no conocen verdaderamente a Dios. Ellos creen que, porque hablan mucho, Dios les va a hacer más caso. 8 No los imiten, porque Dios, nuestro Padre, sabe lo que ustedes necesitan, aun antes de que se lo pidan.
9 »Ustedes deben orar así:
“Padre nuestro
que estás en el cielo:
Que todos reconozcan
que tú eres el verdadero Dios.
10 Ven y sé nuestro único rey.
Que todos los que viven
en la tierra te obedezcan,
como te obedecen
los que están en el cielo.
11 Danos la comida que necesitamos hoy.
12 Perdona el mal que hacemos,
así como nosotros perdonamos
a los que nos hacen mal.
13 Y cuando vengan las pruebas,
no permitas que ellas nos aparten de ti,
y líbranos del poder del diablo.”
14 »Si ustedes perdonan a otros el mal que les han hecho, Dios, su Padre que está en el cielo, los perdonará a ustedes. 15 Pero si ustedes no perdonan a los demás, tampoco su Padre los perdonará a ustedes.
El ayuno
16 »Cuando ustedes ayunen, no pongan cara triste, como hacen los hipócritas. A ellos les gusta que la gente sepa que están ayunando. Les aseguro que ese será el único premio que ellos recibirán. 17 Cuando ustedes ayunen, péinense bien y lávense la cara, 18 para que la gente no se dé cuenta de que están ayunando. Solo Dios, su Padre, quien conoce todos los secretos, sabrá que están ayunando y les dará su premio.
La riqueza verdadera
(Lc 12.33-36)19 »No traten de amontonar riquezas aquí en la tierra. Esas cosas se echan a perder o son destruidas por la polilla. Además, los ladrones pueden entrar y robarlas. 20 Es mejor que amontonen riquezas en el cielo. Allí nada se echa a perder ni la polilla lo destruye. Tampoco los ladrones pueden entrar y robar. 21 Recuerden que la verdadera riqueza consiste en obedecerme de todo corazón.
22-23 »Los ojos son el reflejo de tu carácter. Así que, tu bondad o tu maldad se refleja en tu mirada.
El dinero
(Lc 16.13)24 »Ningún esclavo puede trabajar al mismo tiempo para dos amos, porque siempre obedecerá o amará a uno más que al otro. Del mismo modo, tampoco ustedes pueden servir al mismo tiempo a Dios y a las riquezas.
Las preocupaciones
(Lc 12.22-31)25 »No vivan pensando en qué van a comer, qué van a beber o qué ropa se van a poner. La vida no consiste solamente en comer, ni Dios creó el cuerpo solo para que lo vistan.
26 »Miren los pajaritos que vuelan por el aire. Ellos no siembran ni cosechan, ni guardan semillas en graneros. Sin embargo, Dios, el Padre que está en el cielo, les da todo lo que necesitan. ¡Y ustedes son más importantes que ellos!
27 »¿Creen ustedes que por preocuparse vivirán un día más? 28 Aprendan de las flores que están en el campo. Ellas no trabajan para hacerse sus vestidos. 29 Sin embargo, les aseguro que ni el rey Salomón se vistió tan bien como ellas, aunque tuvo muchas riquezas.
30 »Si Dios hace tan hermosas a las flores, que viven tan poco tiempo, ¿acaso no hará más por ustedes? ¡Veo que todavía no han aprendido a confiar en Dios!
31 »Ya no se preocupen por lo que van a comer, o lo que van a beber, o por la ropa que se van a poner. 32 Solo los que no conocen a Dios se preocupan por eso. Ustedes tienen como padre a Dios que está en el cielo, y él sabe lo que ustedes necesitan.
33 »Lo más importante es que reconozcan a Dios como único rey, y que hagan lo que él les pide. Dios les dará a su tiempo todo lo que necesiten. 34 Así que no se preocupen por lo que pasará mañana. Ya tendrán tiempo para eso. Recuerden que ya tenemos bastante con los problemas de cada día.
1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. 2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
5 ¶ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are : for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do : for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
16 ¶ Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
19 ¶ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 ¶ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
