La destrucción de Babilonia
1 Dios le mostró a Isaías lo que haría con Babilonia, y este dijo:
«Como las tormentas
que vienen del sur,
así atacará un ejército
que viene del terrible desierto.
2 Lo que Dios me mostró
es algo terrible:
el traidor y el destructor
cumplen su tarea.
»¡Pueblo de Elam, a las armas!
¡Pueblo de Media, al ataque!
¡Destruyan a Babilonia!
Dios pondrá fin al sufrimiento
que han causado los babilonios.
3 »Cuando veo lo que Dios
hace con Babilonia,
me tiembla todo el cuerpo;
me causa un terrible dolor,
como el que siente una mujer
cuando va a tener un hijo.
El miedo y la angustia
no me dejan ver ni oír nada.
4 Tengo la mente confundida,
estoy temblando de miedo.
La frescura del atardecer,
que tanto me gustaba,
ahora se me ha vuelto insoportable.
5 »En Babilonia,
los generales están de fiesta,
disfrutando de un gran banquete.
Vamos, capitanes,
¡basta ya de fiestas!;
¡preparen sus escudos!»
6 Dios le dijo a Isaías:
«Envía un hombre a vigilar el horizonte;
que te haga saber todo lo que vea.
7 Si ve hombres montados a caballo,
en burros o en camellos,
y marchando en dos columnas,
que dé la voz de alarma».
8 El vigilante le gritó a Isaías:
«Señor, he permanecido en mi puesto;
día y noche he vigilado el horizonte.
9 ¡Veo venir carros de guerra
y hombres montados a caballo!»
Entonces alguien gritó:
«¡Babilonia ha sido destruida!
Todas las estatuas de sus dioses
están hechas pedazos,
tendidas por el suelo».
10 Isaías dijo:
«Pueblo mío,
que has sufrido grandemente,
yo te he anunciado lo que me mostró
el Dios todopoderoso,
el Dios de Israel».
Anuncio de Dios contra el país de Edom
11 Dios le mostró a Isaías lo que iba a hacer contra el país de Edom, y en esa visión él escuchó que alguien le gritaba desde ese país:
«Isaías, ¿cuánto tiempo falta
para que termine nuestro castigo?»
12 Y él le respondió:
«Pronto llegará alivio,
pero el castigo volverá.
Si quieren saber más,
vuelvan a preguntar más tarde».
Mensaje contra Arabia
13 Dios le mostró a Isaías lo que iba a hacer contra los árabes, que pasan la noche entre los matorrales del desierto:
«¡Árabes de la región de Dedán!,
14 salgan al encuentro del que tiene sed
y ofrézcanle agua.
Y ustedes, árabes de la región de Temá,
salgan al encuentro del que huye
y ofrézcanle algo de comer.
15 Porque ellos son sus compatriotas,
que escapan de la terrible batalla;
huyen de la espada y de las flechas».
16 Dios le dijo a Isaías: «Dentro de un año acabaré con la hermosura de la región árabe de Quedar, como quien termina el contrato de un trabajador. 17 Sus valientes guerreros no tendrán con qué defenderse. Yo soy el Dios de Israel, y les juro que así será».
1 The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land. 2 A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease. 3 Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it . 4 My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me. 5 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield. 6 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth. 7 And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed: 8 And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights: 9 And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground. 10 O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.
11 ¶ The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? 12 The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.
13 ¶ The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim. 14 The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled. 15 For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war. 16 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail: 17 And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it .
