No critiquen a los demás
1 Reciban bien a los cristianos débiles, es decir, a los que todavía no entienden bien qué es lo que Dios ordena. Si en algo no están de acuerdo con ellos, no discutan. 2 Por ejemplo, hay quienes se sienten fuertes y creen que está bien comer de todo, mientras que los débiles solo comen verduras. 3 Pero los que comen de todo no deben despreciar a los otros. De igual manera, los que solo comen verduras no deben criticar a los que comen de todo, pues Dios los ha aceptado por igual.
4 Ustedes no tienen derecho de criticar al esclavo de otro. Es el dueño del esclavo quien decide si su esclavo trabaja bien o no. Así también, Dios es el único que tiene poder para ayudar a cada uno a cumplir bien su trabajo.
5 Permítanme darles otro ejemplo. Hay algunos que piensan que ciertos días son especiales, mientras que para otras personas todos los días son iguales. Cada uno debe estar seguro de que piensa lo correcto. 6 Los que piensan que cierto día es especial, lo hacen para honrar a Dios. Y los que comen de todo, lo hacen también para honrar a Dios, y le dan las gracias. Igual sucede con los que solo comen verduras, pues lo hacen para honrar a Dios, y también le dan las gracias.
7 Nuestra vida y nuestra muerte ya no son nuestras, sino que son de Dios. 8 Si vivimos o morimos, es para honrar al Señor Jesucristo. Ya sea que estemos vivos, o que estemos muertos, somos de él. 9 En realidad, Jesucristo murió y resucitó para tener autoridad sobre los vivos y los muertos.
10 Por eso no deben ustedes criticar a los otros hermanos de la iglesia, ni despreciarlos, porque todos seremos juzgados por Dios. 11 En la Biblia Dios dice:
«Juro por mi vida
que, en mi presencia,
todos se arrodillarán
y me alabarán.»
12 Así que todos tendremos que presentarnos delante de Dios, para que él nos juzgue.
No hagan daño a otros
13 Ya no debemos criticarnos unos a otros. Al contrario, no hagamos que, por culpa nuestra, un seguidor de Cristo peque o pierda su confianza en Dios. 14 A mí, nuestro Señor Jesús me ha enseñado que ningún alimento es malo en sí mismo. Pero si alguien piensa que alguna comida no se debe comer, entonces no debe comerla. 15 Si algún hermano se ofende por lo que ustedes comen, es porque no le están mostrando amor. No permitan que, por insistir en comer ciertos alimentos, acabe en el infierno alguien por quien Cristo murió. 16 No permitan que se hable mal de la libertad que Cristo les ha dado. 17 En el reino de Dios no importa lo que se come ni lo que se bebe. Más bien, lo que importa es hacer el bien, y vivir en paz y con alegría. Y todo esto puede hacerse por medio del Espíritu Santo. 18 Si servimos a Jesucristo de esta manera, agradaremos a Dios y la gente nos respetará.
19 Por lo tanto, vivamos en paz unos con otros, y ayudémonos a crecer más en la nueva vida que Cristo nos ha dado. 20 No permitan que, por insistir en lo que se debe o no se debe comer, se arruine todo lo bueno que Dios ha hecho en la vida del hermano débil. La verdad es que toda comida es buena; lo malo es que por comer algo, se haga que otro hermano deje de creer en Dios. 21 Más vale no comer carne, ni beber vino, ni hacer nada que pueda causarle problemas a otros hermanos. 22 Lo que ustedes decidan sobre estas cosas es algo entre Dios y ustedes. ¡Dichosos los que se sienten libres para hacer algo, y no se sienten mal de haberlo hecho! 23 Pero si alguien no está seguro si debe o no comer algo, y lo come, hace mal, porque no está actuando de acuerdo con lo que cree. Y ustedes bien saben que eso es malo, pues todo lo que se hace en contra de lo que uno cree, es pecado.
1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. 2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. 3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. 4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. 5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike . Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it . He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. 7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. 10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way. 14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of: 17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. 20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. 21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. 22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. 23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
