(1) Himno de Asaf.
Instrucciones para el director del coro: Este himno deberá cantarse con la melodía que se canta al exprimir las uvas.
1 1 (2) ¡Lancen gritos de alabanza para Dios!
¡Él es nuestra fortaleza!
¡Canten llenos de alegría
al Dios de Israel!
2 2 (3) ¡Canten himnos!
¡Toquen la pandereta,
el arpa y la lira!
3 3 (4) Toquen las trompetas
en las fiestas de luna nueva,
y en la fiesta de luna llena,
que es nuestra fiesta principal.
4-5 4-5 (5-6) Así lo ordenó el Dios de Israel
cuando salió para atacar a Egipto.
Escucho la voz de Dios
y no entiendo lo que dice:
6 6 (7) «Te he quitado de los hombros
la carga que llevabas;
ya no tienes que cargar
esos ladrillos tan pesados.
7 7 (8) Cuando estabas angustiado,
me llamaste y te libré;
te respondí desde la oscura nube
donde estaba yo escondido;
junto al manantial de Meribá
puse a prueba tu fe.
8 8 (9) »Israel, pueblo mío,
escucha mis advertencias;
¡cómo quisiera que me escucharas!
9 9 (10) No tengas dioses extranjeros
ni los adores.
10 10 (11) Yo soy tu Dios;
yo te saqué de Egipto.
Dime qué quieres comer,
y te lo daré de sobra.
11 11 (12) »Pero mi pueblo Israel
no quiso prestarme atención.
12 12 (13) Por eso los dejé que hicieran
lo que les diera la gana.
13 13 (14) »¡Cómo me gustaría
que mi pueblo me escuchara!
¡Cómo quisiera que Israel
hiciera lo que yo quiero!
14 14 (15) ¡En muy poco tiempo
derrotaría yo a sus enemigos
y los aplastaría con mi poder!
15 15 (16) Los que ahora me odian
se rendirían ante mí,
y yo los castigaría para siempre.
16 16 (17) En cambio, a mi pueblo
le daría el mejor trigo
y de los panales
que están en la roca
sacaría miel
y lo dejaría satisfecho».

1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.
5 This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.
6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.
7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;
9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
10 I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
15 The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.
16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.
