Pablo en Macedonia y Grecia
1 Cuando todo aquel alboroto terminó, Pablo mandó llamar a los que habían creído y les pidió que no dejaran de confiar en Jesús. Luego se despidió de ellos, y fue a la provincia de Macedonia. 2 Pablo iba de lugar en lugar, animando a los miembros de las iglesias de esa región. De allí se fue a Grecia, 3 país donde se quedó tres meses.
Estaba Pablo a punto de salir en barco hacia la provincia de Siria, cuando supo que algunos judíos planeaban atacarlo. Entonces decidió volver por Macedonia. 4 Varios hombres lo acompañaron: Sópatro, que era hijo de Pirro y vivía en la ciudad de Berea; Aristarco y Segundo, que eran de la ciudad de Tesalónica; Gayo, del pueblo de Derbe; y Timoteo, Tíquico y Trófimo, que eran de la provincia de Asia. 5 Todos ellos viajaron antes que nosotros y nos esperaron en la ciudad de Tróade.
6 Cuando terminó la fiesta de los panes sin levadura, Pablo y los que estábamos con él salimos en barco, desde el puerto de Filipos hacia la ciudad de Tróade. Después de cinco días de viaje, llegamos y encontramos a aquellos hombres, y nos quedamos allí siete días.
Pablo viaja a Tróade
7-8 El domingo nos reunimos en uno de los pisos altos de una casa, para celebrar la Cena del Señor. Había muchas lámparas encendidas. Como Pablo saldría de viaje al día siguiente, estuvo hablando de Jesús hasta la media noche. 9 Mientras Pablo hablaba, un joven llamado Eutico, que estaba sentado en el marco de la ventana, se quedó profundamente dormido y se cayó desde el tercer piso. Cuando fueron a levantarlo, ya estaba muerto. 10 Pero Pablo bajó, se inclinó sobre él, y tomándolo en sus brazos dijo: «¡No se preocupen! Está vivo.»
11 Luego, Pablo volvió al piso alto y celebró la Cena del Señor, y siguió hablándoles hasta que salió el sol. Después continuó su viaje.
12 En cuanto a Eutico, los miembros de la iglesia lo llevaron sano y salvo a su casa, y eso los animó mucho.
Pablo en Mileto
13 Pablo había decidido ir por tierra hasta Aso, pero nosotros tomamos un barco para recogerlo allá. 14 Cuando llegamos, él se nos unió en el barco y nos fuimos al puerto de Mitilene. 15-16 Al día siguiente, el barco pasó frente a la isla Quío, y un día más tarde llegamos al puerto de Samos, porque Pablo no quería pasar a Éfeso ni perder mucho tiempo en la provincia de Asia. Lo que deseaba era llegar lo más pronto posible a la ciudad de Jerusalén, para estar allá en el día de Pentecostés. Seguimos navegando, y un día después llegamos al puerto de Mileto.
Pablo y los líderes de Éfeso
17 Estando en la ciudad de Mileto, Pablo mandó llamar a los líderes de la iglesia de Éfeso para hablar con ellos. 18 Cuando llegaron, les dijo:
«Ustedes saben muy bien cómo me he portado desde el primer día que llegué a la provincia de Asia. 19 Aunque he sufrido mucho por los problemas que me han causado algunos judíos, con toda humildad he cumplido con lo que el Señor Jesús me ha ordenado. 20 Nunca he dejado de anunciarles a ustedes todas las cosas que les ayudarían a vivir mejor, ni de enseñarles en las calles y en sus casas. 21 A los judíos y a los que no son judíos les he dicho que le pidan perdón a Dios y crean en nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
22 »Ahora debo ir a Jerusalén, pues el Espíritu Santo me lo ordena. No sé lo que me va a pasar allá. 23 A dondequiera que voy, el Espíritu Santo me dice que en Jerusalén van a meterme a la cárcel, y que van a maltratarme mucho. 24 No me preocupa si tengo que morir. Lo que sí quiero es tener la satisfacción de haber anunciado la buena noticia del amor de Dios, como me lo ordenó el Señor Jesús.
25 »Estoy seguro de que no volverá a verme ninguno de ustedes, a los que he anunciado el mensaje del reino de Dios. 26 Por eso quiero decirles que no me siento responsable por ninguno de ustedes, 27 pues ya les he anunciado los planes de Dios. No les he ocultado nada.
28 »Ustedes deben cuidarse a sí mismos, y cuidar a los miembros de la iglesia de Dios. Recuerden que el Espíritu Santo los puso como líderes de la iglesia, para que cuiden a todos los que Dios salvó por medio de la sangre de su propio Hijo.
29 »Cuando yo muera, vendrán otros que, como si fueran lobos feroces, atacarán a todos los de la iglesia. 30 También algunos, que ahora son seguidores de Jesús, comenzarán a enseñar mentiras, para que todos en la iglesia los sigan y los obedezcan.
31 »Por eso, tengan mucho cuidado. Recuerden los consejos que les he dado durante tres años, a pesar de tantos problemas y dificultades.
32 »Ahora le pido a Dios que los cuide con mucho amor. Su amoroso mensaje puede ayudarles a ser cada día mejores. Si lo obedecen, Dios cumplirá las promesas que ha hecho a todos los que ha elegido para ser su pueblo.
33 »Nunca he querido que me den dinero ni ropa. 34 Ustedes bien saben que con mis propias manos he trabajado, para conseguir todo lo que mis ayudantes y yo hemos necesitado para vivir. 35 Les he enseñado que deben trabajar y ayudar a los que nada tienen. Recuerden lo que nos dijo el Señor Jesús: “Dios bendice más al que da que al que recibe.”»
36 Cuando Pablo terminó de hablar, se arrodilló con todos los líderes y oró por ellos. 37 Todos comenzaron a llorar, y abrazaron y besaron a Pablo. 38 Estaban muy tristes porque Pablo les había dicho que jamás lo volverían a ver. Después, todos acompañaron a Pablo hasta el barco.
1 And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them , and departed for to go into Macedonia. 2 And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece, 3 And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia. 4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus. 5 These going before tarried for us at Troas. 6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days. 7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. 8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together. 9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. 10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. 11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed. 12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.
13 ¶ And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot. 14 And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene. 15 And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus. 16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.
17 ¶ And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church. 18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons, 19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews: 20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you , but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, 21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. 22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: 23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. 25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. 26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men . 27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
28 ¶ Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. 31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. 32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. 33 I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel. 34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. 35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
36 ¶ And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all. 37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck, and kissed him, 38 Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.
