La salvación es importante
1 Por eso debemos poner más interés en el mensaje de salvación que hemos oído, para no apartarnos del camino que Dios nos señala. 2 Si el mensaje que anunciaron los ángeles resultó ser verdad, y quienes no lo obedecieron recibieron el castigo que merecían, 3 con más razón seremos castigados nosotros si no reconocemos el gran valor de la salvación que él nos ofrece. Porque el Señor Jesús mismo fue el primero en comunicar el mensaje de salvación, y después, los que oyeron ese mensaje nos demostraron que era verdad. 4 Dios también nos lo demostró por medio de muchas señales y de acciones maravillosas, y también con milagros. Además, cuando lo hizo, les dio el Espíritu Santo a quienes él se lo quiso dar.
Jesús nos salva
5 Dios no ha puesto a los ángeles como jefes del mundo en que vamos a vivir en el futuro. En ese mundo 6 el jefe será otro. Pues la Biblia dice:
«Dios, ¿qué somos los mortales
para que pienses en nosotros
y nos tomes en cuenta?
7 »¡Nos creaste casi iguales
a los ángeles!
Nos trataste como a reyes;
8 nos diste plena autoridad
sobre todo lo que hiciste;
nos diste dominio
sobre toda tu creación».
Y si Dios le dio «dominio sobre toda la creación», eso quiere decir que nada de lo creado queda fuera de su gobierno. Claro, todavía no vemos que él gobierne sobre todas las cosas. 9 Pero Dios nos ama y envió a Jesús a morir para salvarnos. Por eso, aunque Dios permitió que, por algún tiempo, Jesús fuera menos importante que los ángeles, ahora Jesús ha recibido gloria y honor.
10 Dios hizo todas las cosas para él mismo, y quiere que su gloria la compartan todos los que lo aman y obedecen. Para eso, Dios tenía que hacer perfecto a Jesucristo y dejarlo morir, pues Jesucristo es el Salvador de ellos. 11 Todos los que aman y obedecen a Dios son sus hijos, y Dios es padre de todos ellos. Y como Jesús también es Hijo de Dios, no se avergüenza de tratarlos como hermanos, 12 pues él le dijo a Dios:
«Cuando mi pueblo se junte
para adorarte en el templo,
yo les hablaré de ti,
y te cantaré alabanzas.»
13 También dice:
«Confiaré en Dios.»
Y añade:
«Aquí estoy, con los hijos
que Dios me ha dado.»
14 Nosotros somos seres de carne y hueso. Por eso Jesús se hizo igual a nosotros. Solo así podía morir para vencer al diablo, que tenía poder para matar a hombres y a mujeres. 15 Con su muerte, Jesús dio libertad a los que se pasaban la vida con miedo a la muerte. 16 Queda claro que Jesús no vino para ayudar a los ángeles, sino a todos los descendientes de Abraham. 17 Para poder ayudarlos, tenía que hacerse igual a ellos. Por eso Jesús es un Jefe de sacerdotes en quien se puede confiar, pues está lleno de amor para servir a Dios. Además, por medio de su muerte, Jesús logró que Dios nos perdonara nuestros pecados. 18 Y como Jesús mismo sufrió, y el diablo le puso trampas para hacerlo pecar, ahora, cuando el diablo nos pone trampas, Jesús puede ayudarnos a todos.
1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him ; 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. 6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? 7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: 8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. 10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. 13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
