Comienza la reconstrucción
1 Entonces comenzó la reconstrucción. Los sacerdotes, junto con su jefe Eliasib, reconstruyeron la entrada de las Ovejas. Reconstruyeron los muros de protección hasta la torre de los Cien y la torre de Hananel, y colocaron los portones. Luego dedicaron a Dios esa entrada.
2 Los hombres de Jericó reconstruyeron la sección de los muros que seguía.
En la siguiente sección trabajó Zacur hijo de Imrí.
3 La familia de Senaá reconstruyó la entrada de los Pescados. Pusieron vigas y colocaron los portones con sus cerrojos y barras.
4 La siguiente sección del muro fue reparada por Meremot hijo de Urías y nieto de Cos.
La reparación de la siguiente sección la hizo Mesulam hijo de Berequías, y nieto de Mesezabel.
La siguiente sección fue reparada por Sadoc hijo de Baaná.
5 La gente de Tecoa se hizo cargo de la siguiente sección, pero los hombres importantes de ese pueblo no quisieron ayudar a los que dirigían la obra.
6 Joiadá hijo de Paséah y Mesulam hijo de Besodías, repararon la entrada de Jesaná. Le pusieron vigas y colocaron los portones con sus cerrojos y barras.
7 Melatías de Gabaón, y Jadón de Meronot, repararon la siguiente sección del muro, junto con la gente de Gabaón y de Mispá. Estas dos regiones estaban a cargo del gobernador de la provincia que está al oeste del río Éufrates.
8 En la sección que seguía trabajaron Uziel hijo de Harhaías, que era muy bueno trabajando con objetos de plata, y Hananías, que preparaba excelentes perfumes. Estos dos repararon el muro de Jerusalén hasta el muro ancho.
9 La siguiente sección la reparó Refaías hijo de Hur, que era gobernador de la mitad del distrito de Jerusalén.
10 Jedaías hijo de Harumaf reparó la siguiente sección, que quedaba frente a su casa.
El trabajo de la siguiente sección lo hizo Hatús hijo de Hasabnías.
11 Malquías hijo de Harim, y Hasub hijo de Pahat-moab repararon la siguiente sección y la torre de los Hornos.
12 En la sección que seguía trabajó Salum hijo de Halohés, ayudado por sus hijas. Halohés era gobernador de la otra mitad del distrito de Jerusalén.
13 Hanún y los que vivían en Zanóah repararon la entrada del Valle. La reconstruyeron, le colocaron los portones con sus cerrojos y barras, y también repararon cuatrocientos cincuenta metros del muro, hasta la entrada del Basurero.
14 Malquías hijo de Recab, que era gobernador del distrito de Bet-haquérem, reconstruyó la entrada del Basurero. Le colocó los portones con sus cerrojos y barras.
15 Salum hijo de Colhozé, que era gobernador del distrito de Mispá, reparó la entrada de la Fuente. La cubrió con un techo y colocó los portones con sus cerrojos y sus barras. También arregló el muro desde el estanque de Siloé, que está junto al jardín del rey, hasta las escaleras que bajan de la parte más antigua de la ciudad de Jerusalén.
16 Nehemías hijo de Azbuc, que era gobernador de la mitad del distrito de Bet-sur, reparó la siguiente sección del muro que está frente a la tumba de David, hasta el estanque de agua y el cuartel de los soldados.
Los colaboradores de la tribu de Leví
17 Estos fueron los descendientes de Leví que trabajaron en la reconstrucción del muro de protección:
Rehúm hijo de Baní, y después Hasabías, que era gobernador de la mitad del distrito de Queilá, repararon la sección que seguía, en representación de su distrito.
18 Luego continuó el trabajo Bavai hijo de Henadad, que era gobernador de la otra mitad del distrito de Queilá.
19 Éser hijo de Josué, gobernador de Mispá, reparó la sección frente a la calle que lleva al depósito de armas de la esquina. 20 Después Baruc hijo de Zabai reparó la sección que va desde la esquina hasta la puerta de la casa de Eliasib, el jefe de los sacerdotes. 21 Meremot hijo de Urías, y nieto de Cos, reparó la sección que va desde la puerta de la casa de Eliasib hasta donde termina.
Los sacerdotes también reconstruyeron
22 Los sacerdotes que vivían en el valle del río Jordán trabajaron en la reconstrucción de las secciones que seguían. 23 Luego los sacerdotes Benjamín y Hasub repararon la sección del muro que quedaba frente a su casa. Azarías hijo de Maaseías, nieto de Ananías, reparó el muro junto a su casa. 24 Binuy hijo de Henadad reparó otra sección, que va de la casa de Azarías hasta el ángulo de la esquina.
25 Palal hijo de Uzai reparó el muro frente a la esquina, y la torre alta del palacio del rey, que está en el patio de la guardia. Pedaías hijo de Parós 26 y los servidores del templo que vivían en Ófel repararon la sección del este, que está frente a la entrada del Agua. También repararon la torre.

27 Los de Tecoa repararon la sección del muro que iba desde enfrente de la torre grande hasta el muro de Ófel.
28 Algunos sacerdotes repararon el muro frente a sus casas, desde la entrada de los Caballos. 29 También Sadoc hijo de Imer reparó el muro frente a su casa.
La siguiente sección la reconstruyó Semaías hijo de Secanías, que era guardián de la entrada del Este. 30 De la siguiente sección se encargaron Hananías hijo de Selemías y Hanún, el sexto hijo de Salaf.
Mesulam hijo de Berequías trabajó en la sección del muro que estaba frente a su casa. 31 Malquías, que fabricaba excelentes objetos de plata, reparó la sección que seguía, hasta la casa de los servidores del templo y de los comerciantes, frente a la entrada de Revisión y hasta el puesto de vigilancia de la esquina.
32 La sección que va desde allí hasta la entrada de las Ovejas fue reparada por los fabricantes de objetos de plata, y por los comerciantes.

And next unto them repaired Zadok the son of Baana. 5 And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their Lord. 6 Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof. 7 And next unto them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, unto the throne of the governor on this side the river. 8 Next unto him repaired Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, of the goldsmiths. Next unto him also repaired Hananiah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem unto the broad wall. 9 And next unto them repaired Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem. 10 And next unto them repaired Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, even over against his house. And next unto him repaired Hattush the son of Hashabniah. 11 Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahath-moab, repaired the other piece, and the tower of the furnaces. 12 And next unto him repaired Shallum the son of Halohesh, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, he and his daughters. 13 The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate. 14 But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Beth-haccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof. 15 But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Col-hozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king’s garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David. 16 After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Beth-zur, unto the place over against the sepulchres of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty. 17 After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part. 18 After him repaired their brethren, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah. 19 And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece over against the going up to the armoury at the turning of the wall . 20 After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest. 21 After him repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah the son of Koz another piece, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib. 22 And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain. 23 After him repaired Benjamin and Hashub over against their house. After him repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah by his house. 24 After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad another piece, from the house of Azariah unto the turning of the wall , even unto the corner. 25 Palal the son of Uzai, over against the turning of the wall , and the tower which lieth out from the king’s high house, that was by the court of the prison. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh. 26 Moreover the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel, unto the place over against the water gate toward the east, and the tower that lieth out. 27 After them the Tekoites repaired another piece, over against the great tower that lieth out, even unto the wall of Ophel. 28 From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one over against his house. 29 After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer over against his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate. 30 After him repaired Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, another piece. After him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah over against his chamber. 31 After him repaired Malchiah the goldsmith’s son unto the place of the Nethinims, and of the merchants, over against the gate Miphkad, and to the going up of the corner. 32 And between the going up of the corner unto the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.
