El hombre que no podía caminar
(Mc 2.1-12Lc 5.17-26)1 Después de esto, Jesús subió a una barca y cruzó al otro lado del lago para llegar al pueblo de Cafarnaúm, donde vivía. 2 Allí, algunas personas le llevaron a un hombre acostado en una camilla, pues no podía caminar. Al ver Jesús que estas personas confiaban en él, le dijo al hombre: «¡Ánimo, amigo! Te perdono tus pecados.»
3 Algunos de los maestros de la Ley, que estaban en aquel lugar, pensaron: «¿Qué se cree este? ¿Se imagina que es Dios? ¡Qué equivocado está!»
4 Pero Jesús se dio cuenta de lo que estaban pensando, así que les preguntó: «¿Por qué piensan algo tan malo? 5 Díganme: ¿qué es más fácil? ¿Perdonar a este enfermo, o sanarlo? 6 Pues voy a demostrarles que yo, el Hijo del hombre, tengo poder en la tierra para perdonar pecados.»
Entonces Jesús le dijo al que no podía caminar: «Levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa.»
7 El hombre se levantó y se fue a su casa. 8 Cuando la gente vio esto, quedó muy impresionada y alabó a Dios por haber dado ese poder a los seres humanos.
Jesús llama a Mateo
(Mc 2.13-17Lc 5.27-32)9 Cuando Jesús salió de allí, vio a un hombre llamado Mateo, que estaba sentado cobrando impuestos para el gobierno de Roma. Entonces Jesús le dijo: «Sígueme».
Mateo se levantó y lo siguió.
10 Ese mismo día, Jesús y sus discípulos fueron a comer a casa de Mateo. Allí también estaban comiendo otros cobradores de impuestos y gente de mala fama. 11 Cuando algunos fariseos vieron a toda esa gente, les preguntaron a los discípulos:
—¿Por qué su maestro come con cobradores de impuestos y con pecadores?
12 Jesús oyó lo que decían los fariseos y les dijo:
—Los que necesitan del médico son los enfermos, no los que están sanos. 13 Mejor vayan y traten de averiguar lo que Dios quiso decir con estas palabras: “Prefiero que sean compasivos con la gente, y no que me traigan ofrendas”. Yo vine a invitar a los pecadores para que sean mis discípulos, no a los que se creen buenos.
Jesús enseña sobre el ayuno
(Mc 2.18-22Lc 5.33-39)14 Los discípulos de Juan el Bautista fueron a ver a Jesús y le preguntaron:
—Nosotros y los fariseos ayunamos mucho. ¿Por qué tus discípulos no hacen lo mismo?
15 Jesús les respondió:
—En una boda, los invitados no están tristes mientras el novio está con ellos. Pero llegará el momento en que se lleven al novio. Entonces los invitados ayunarán.
16 »Si un vestido viejo se rompe, no se le pone un parche de tela nueva. Porque al lavarse el vestido viejo, la tela nueva se encoge y rompe todo el vestido; y entonces el daño es mayor.
17 »Tampoco se echa vino nuevo en recipientes viejos, porque cuando el vino nuevo fermenta, hace que se reviente el cuero viejo; así se pierde el vino nuevo, y se destruyen los recipientes. Por eso, hay que echar vino nuevo en recipientes de cuero nuevo. De ese modo, ni el vino ni los recipientes se pierden.
Una niña muerta y una mujer enferma
(Mc 5.21-43Lc 8.40-56)18 Mientras Jesús hablaba, llegó un jefe de los judíos, se arrodilló delante de él y le dijo: «¡Mi hija acaba de morir! Pero si tú vienes y pones tu mano sobre ella, volverá a vivir.»
19 Jesús se levantó y se fue con él. Sus discípulos también lo acompañaron.
20-21 En el camino, pasaron por donde estaba una mujer que había estado enferma durante doce años. Su enfermedad le hacía perder mucha sangre. Al verlos pasar, la mujer pensó: «Si tan solo pudiera tocar el manto de Jesús, con eso quedaría sana.» Entonces se acercó a Jesús por detrás y tocó su manto. 22 Jesús se dio vuelta, vio a la mujer y le dijo: «Ya no te preocupes, tu confianza en Dios te ha sanado.»
Y desde ese momento la mujer quedó sana.
23 Jesús siguió su camino hasta la casa del jefe judío. Cuando llegó, vio a los músicos preparados para el entierro, y a mucha gente llorando a gritos. 24 Jesús les dijo: «Salgan de aquí. La niña no está muerta, sino dormida.»
La gente se rio de Jesús. 25 Pero una vez que sacaron a todos, Jesús entró, tomó de la mano a la niña, y ella se levantó.
26 Todos en esa región supieron lo que había pasado.
Jesús sana a dos ciegos
27 Cuando Jesús salió de allí, dos ciegos lo siguieron y comenzaron a gritarle:
—¡Jesús, tú que eres el Mesías, ten compasión de nosotros!
28 Los ciegos siguieron a Jesús hasta la casa. Y cuando ya estaban adentro, Jesús les preguntó:
—¿Creen ustedes que puedo sanarlos?
Ellos respondieron:
—Sí, Señor; lo creemos.
29 Entonces Jesús les tocó los ojos y dijo:
—Por haber confiado en mí, serán sanados.
30 De inmediato, los ciegos pudieron volver a ver. Pero Jesús les ordenó:
—No le cuenten a nadie lo que pasó.
31 Sin embargo, ellos salieron y le contaron a toda la gente de aquella región lo que Jesús había hecho.
Jesús sana a un mudo
32 Después de que aquellos hombres salieron de la casa, unas personas le trajeron a Jesús un hombre que no podía hablar porque tenía un demonio. 33 Cuando Jesús expulsó al demonio, el hombre pudo hablar. La gente que estaba allí se quedó asombrada, y decía: «¡Nunca se había visto algo así en Israel!»
34 Pero los fariseos decían: «Si Jesús expulsa a los demonios, es porque el jefe mismo de todos los demonios le da ese poder.»
Jesús tiene compasión de la gente
35 Jesús recorría todos los pueblos y las ciudades. Enseñaba en las sinagogas, anunciaba las buenas noticias del reino de Dios, y sanaba a la gente que sufría de dolores y de enfermedades. 36 Y al ver la gran cantidad de gente que lo seguía, Jesús sintió mucha compasión, porque vio que era gente confundida, que no tenía quien la defendiera. ¡Parecían un rebaño de ovejas sin pastor!
37 Jesús les dijo a sus discípulos: «Son muchos los que necesitan entrar al reino de Dios, pero son muy pocos los discípulos para anunciarles las buenas noticias. 38 Por eso, pídanle a Dios que envíe más discípulos, para que compartan las buenas noticias con toda esa gente.»
1 And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. 2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. 3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. 4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? 5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? 6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. 7 And he arose, and departed to his house. 8 But when the multitudes saw it , they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.
9 ¶ And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.
10 ¶ And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw it , they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 12 But when Jesus heard that , he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
14 ¶ Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? 15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast. 16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.
18 ¶ While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. 19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
20 ¶ And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him , and touched the hem of his garment: 21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. 23 And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, 24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. 25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. 26 And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.
27 ¶ And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. 28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. 30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it . 31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
32 ¶ As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. 33 And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. 34 But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils. 35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
36 ¶ But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
