Jesús en el palacio de Pilato
(Mc 15.1Lc 23.1-2Jn 18.28-32)1 Al amanecer, todos los sacerdotes principales y los líderes del país hicieron juntos un plan para matar a Jesús. 2 Lo ataron, lo sacaron del palacio de Caifás y lo entregaron a Poncio Pilato, el gobernador romano.
Judas se mata
3 Cuando Judas supo que habían condenado a muerte a Jesús, se sintió muy mal por haberlo traicionado. Entonces fue a donde estaban los sacerdotes principales y los líderes del país, les devolvió las treinta monedas de plata, 4 y les dijo:
—He pecado contra Dios porque entregué a Jesús, y él es inocente.
Ellos le contestaron:
—¡Y eso qué nos importa! ¡Es problema tuyo!
5 Entonces Judas tiró las monedas en el templo, y fue y se ahorcó. 6 Los sacerdotes principales recogieron las monedas y dijeron: «Estas monedas son el precio de la vida de un hombre; la ley no nos permite que las pongamos en la caja de las ofrendas.»
7 Entonces decidieron comprar con ese dinero el terreno conocido como «Campo del Alfarero», para enterrar allí a los extranjeros. 8 Por eso, aquel terreno se conoce con el nombre de «Campo de Sangre». 9 Así se cumplió lo que había dicho el profeta Jeremías:
«La gente de Israel puso el precio
que se pagó por la vida de aquel hombre:
¡Treinta monedas de plata!
10 Y ellos tomaron las monedas,
y compraron el Campo del Alfarero,
como Dios me lo había ordenado.»
Jesús y Pilato
(Mc 15.2-5Lc 23.3-5Jn 18.33-38)11 Cuando llevaron a Jesús ante Pilato, este le preguntó:
—¿Eres en verdad el rey de los judíos?
Jesús respondió:
—Tú lo dices.
12 Los sacerdotes principales y los líderes del país acusaban a Jesús delante de Pilato, pero Jesús no respondía nada. 13 Pilato le preguntó:
—¿No oyes todo lo que dicen contra ti?
14 Y como Jesús no respondió nada, el gobernador se quedó muy asombrado.
¡Que lo claven en una cruz!
(Mc 15.6-15Lc 23.13-25Jn 18.38-40Jn 19.4-16)15 Durante la fiesta de la Pascua, el gobernador tenía la costumbre de poner en libertad a uno de los presos; el que el pueblo quisiera. 16 En ese tiempo estaba encarcelado un bandido muy famoso, que se llamaba Jesús Barrabás. 17 Pilato le preguntó a la gente que estaba allí: «¿A quién quieren ustedes que ponga en libertad: a Jesús Barrabás, o a Jesús, a quien llaman el Mesías?»
18 Pilato preguntó esto porque sabía que, por envidia, los sacerdotes principales y los líderes acusaban a Jesús.
19 Mientras Pilato estaba juzgando el caso, su esposa le mandó este mensaje: «No te metas con ese hombre, porque es inocente. Por causa de él, anoche tuve un sueño horrible.»
20 Mientras tanto, los sacerdotes principales y los líderes convencieron a los que estaban allí, para que pidieran la libertad de Barrabás y la muerte de Jesús.
21 El gobernador volvió a preguntarle al pueblo:
—¿A cuál de los dos quieren que ponga en libertad?
Y todos respondieron:
—¡A Barrabás!
22 Entonces Pilato les dijo:
—¿Y qué quieren que haga con Jesús, a quien llaman el Mesías?
—¡Que muera en una cruz! —respondieron a coro.
23 El gobernador les preguntó:
—Díganme, ¿qué mal ha hecho este hombre?
Pero la multitud gritó con más fuerza:
—¡Que muera en una cruz!
24 Pilato vio que ya no le hacían caso, y que aquello podía terminar en un alboroto muy peligroso. Entonces mandó que le llevaran agua, se lavó las manos delante de la gente y dijo:
—Yo no soy culpable de la muerte de este hombre. Los culpables son ustedes.
25 Y la gente le contestó:
—¡Nosotros y nuestros hijos seremos responsables por la muerte de este hombre!
26 Entonces Pilato puso en libertad a Barrabás, luego ordenó que golpearan a Jesús en la espalda con un látigo, y que después lo clavaran en una cruz.
Todos se burlaron de Jesús
(Mc 15.16-20Jn 19.1-3)27 Los soldados de Pilato llevaron a Jesús al patio del cuartel y llamaron al resto de la tropa. 28 Allí desvistieron a Jesús y le pusieron un manto rojo, 29 le colocaron en la cabeza una corona hecha con ramas de espinos, y le pusieron una vara en la mano derecha. Luego se arrodillaron ante él, y en son de burla le decían: «¡Viva el rey de los judíos!»
30 Lo escupían y, con la misma vara que le habían dado, le pegaban en la cabeza. 31 Cuando se cansaron de burlarse de él, le quitaron el manto, le pusieron su propia ropa y se lo llevaron para clavarlo en la cruz.
32 Los soldados salieron con Jesús. En el camino encontraron a un hombre llamado Simón, que era del pueblo de Cirene, y obligaron a ese hombre a cargar la cruz de Jesús. 33 Cuando llegaron a un lugar llamado Gólgota, que quiere decir «La Calavera», 34 le dieron vino mezclado con una hierba amarga, la cual servía para aliviar los dolores. Jesús lo probó, pero no quiso beberlo.
35-38 Los soldados clavaron a Jesús en la cruz, y luego hicieron un sorteo para ver quién de ellos se quedaría con su ropa. También colocaron un letrero por encima de la cabeza de Jesús, para explicar por qué lo habían clavado en la cruz. El letrero decía: «Este es Jesús, el Rey de los judíos».
Junto con Jesús clavaron también a dos bandidos, y los pusieron uno a su derecha y el otro a su izquierda. Luego, los soldados se sentaron para vigilarlos.
39 La gente que pasaba por allí insultaba a Jesús y se burlaba de él, haciéndole muecas 40 y diciéndole: «Tú dijiste que podías destruir el templo y construirlo de nuevo en tres días. ¡Si tienes tanto poder, sálvate a ti mismo! ¡Si eres el Hijo de Dios, baja de la cruz!»
41 También los sacerdotes principales, los maestros de la Ley y los líderes del pueblo se burlaban de él. Decían: 42 «Este salvó a otros, pero no puede salvarse a sí mismo. Dice que es el rey de Israel. ¡Pues que baje de la cruz y creeremos en él! 43 Dijo que confiaba en Dios, y que era el Hijo de Dios. ¡Pues si en verdad Dios lo ama, que lo salve ahora!»
44 Y también insultaban a Jesús los bandidos que fueron clavados a su lado.
Jesús muere
(Mc 15.33-41Lc 23.44-49Jn 19.28-30)45 Desde el mediodía hasta las tres de la tarde, el cielo se puso oscuro. 46 A esa hora, Jesús gritó con mucha fuerza: «¡Elí, Elí!, ¿lemá sabactani?»
Eso quiere decir: «¡Dios mío, Dios mío! ¿Por qué me has abandonado?»
47 Algunos de los que estaban allí, lo oyeron y dijeron: «¡Está llamando al profeta Elías!»
48 Uno de ellos buscó enseguida una esponja, la empapó con vinagre, la ató en el extremo de un palo largo y se la acercó a Jesús, para que bebiera. 49 Los demás que observaban le dijeron: «Déjalo, vamos a ver si Elías viene a salvarlo.»
50 Jesús lanzó otro fuerte grito, y murió. 51 En aquel momento, la cortina del templo se partió en dos, de arriba abajo, la tierra tembló y las rocas se partieron; 52 las tumbas se abrieron, y muchos de los que confiaban en Dios y ya habían muerto, volvieron a vivir. 53 Después de que Jesús resucitó, esas personas entraron en Jerusalén y mucha gente las vio.
54 El oficial romano y los soldados que vigilaban a Jesús sintieron el terremoto y vieron todo lo que pasaba. Temblando de miedo dijeron: «¡Es verdad, este hombre era el Hijo de Dios!»
55 Había allí muchas mujeres que miraban desde lejos. Ellas habían seguido y ayudado a Jesús durante su viaje desde Galilea. 56 Entre esas mujeres estaban María Magdalena; María, madre de Santiago y de José; y la esposa de Zebedeo.
El entierro de Jesús
(Mc 15.42-47Lc 23.50-56Jn 19.38-42)57 Al anochecer, un hombre rico llamado José se acercó al lugar. Era del pueblo de Arimatea y se había hecho seguidor de Jesús. 58 José le pidió a Pilato que le permitiera llevarse el cuerpo de Jesús, para enterrarlo. Pilato ordenó que se lo dieran.
59 José tomó el cuerpo de Jesús, lo envolvió en una sábana limpia 60 y lo puso en una tumba. Era una tumba nueva, que hacía poco tiempo él había ordenado construir en una gran roca. José tapó la entrada de la tumba con una piedra muy grande, y se fue.
61 Frente a la tumba se quedaron sentadas María Magdalena y la otra María.
62 El día siguiente era sábado, el día de descanso de los judíos. Los sacerdotes principales y los fariseos fueron a ver a Pilato 63 y le dijeron:
—Señor, nos acordamos de que, cuando ese mentiroso de Jesús aún vivía, dijo: “Tres días después de que me maten resucitaré.” 64 Ahora sus discípulos pueden robar el cuerpo y empezar a decir a la gente que Jesús resucitó. Ese engaño sería peor que cuando él dijo que era el Mesías. Para que no pase esto, ordene usted que unos guardias vigilen cuidadosamente la tumba hasta después del tercer día.
65 Pilato les dijo:
—Ustedes tienen soldados a su servicio; vayan y protejan la tumba lo mejor que puedan.
66 Entonces ellos fueron a la tumba, y ataron la piedra que tapaba la entrada para que no se moviera. También dejaron allí a los soldados para que vigilaran.
1 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: 2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
3 ¶ Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that . 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. 8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. 9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; 10 And gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me. 11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest. 12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. 13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? 14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly. 15 Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would. 16 And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas. 17 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? 18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
19 ¶ When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him. 20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. 21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas. 22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. 23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
24 ¶ When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it . 25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
26 ¶ Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. 27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers . 28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
29 ¶ And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! 30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. 31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him . 32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross. 33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
34 ¶ They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof , he would not drink. 35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. 36 And sitting down they watched him there; 37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
39 ¶ And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, 40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. 41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him , with the scribes and elders, said, 42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. 43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. 44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth. 45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that , said, This man calleth for Elias. 48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. 49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
50 ¶ Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. 54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God. 55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him: 56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s children. 57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathæa, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple: 58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. 59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. 61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
62 ¶ Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, 63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. 64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. 65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. 66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
