El templo será destruido
(Mc 13.1-2Lc 21.5-6)1 Cuando Jesús salió del templo, sus discípulos se le acercaron para mostrarle los edificios del templo. 2 Entonces él les dijo: «¿Ven ustedes todos estos edificios? Les aseguro que todos ellos serán destruidos. ¡Ni una sola pared quedará en pie!»
Prepárense para el fin
(Mc 13.3-23Lc 21.7-24Lc 17.22-24)3 Después, Jesús y sus discípulos se fueron al Monte de los Olivos. Jesús se sentó y, cuando ya estaban solos, los discípulos le preguntaron:
—¿Cuándo será destruido el templo? ¿Cómo sabremos que tú vendrás otra vez, y que ha llegado el fin del mundo? ¿Cuáles serán las señales?
4 Jesús les respondió:
—¡Cuidado! No se dejen engañar. 5 Muchos vendrán, y se harán pasar por mí, y le dirán a la gente: “Yo soy el Mesías”. Usarán mi nombre y lograrán engañar a muchos.
6 »Ustedes oirán que en algunos países habrá guerras, y que otros países están a punto de pelearse. Pero no se asusten; esas cosas pasarán, pero todavía no será el fin del mundo. 7 Porque los países pelearán unos contra otros, la gente no tendrá qué comer, y en muchos lugares habrá terremotos. 8 Eso es solo el principio de todo lo que el mundo sufrirá.
9 »Ustedes serán llevados presos, y entregados a las autoridades para que los maltraten y los maten. Todo el mundo los odiará por ser mis discípulos. 10 Muchos de mis seguidores dejarán de creer en mí; uno traicionará al otro y sentirá odio por él. 11 Llegarán muchos falsos profetas y engañarán a muchas personas. 12 La gente será tan mala que la mayoría dejará de amarse. 13 Pero yo salvaré a todos mis seguidores que confíen en mí hasta el final. 14 El fin del mundo llegará cuando las buenas noticias del reino de Dios sean anunciadas en toda la tierra, y todo el mundo las haya escuchado.
Una señal para huir
15 Jesús siguió hablando con sus discípulos acerca del fin del mundo, y les dijo:
—El que lea esto debe tratar de entender lo que dijo el profeta Daniel. Él anunció que algún día se presentaría una ofrenda asquerosa en el templo.
»Cuando vean que en el Lugar Santo pasa lo que anunció Daniel, entonces huyan. 16 Los que estén en la región de Judea que corran hacia las montañas; 17 el que esté en la azotea de su casa que no baje a sacar nada; 18 y el que esté en el campo que no vaya a su casa a buscar ropa. 19 ¡Que mal les va a ir a las mujeres que en ese momento estén embarazadas, y a las que tengan hijos recién nacidos! 20 Oren a Dios y pídanle que esto no suceda en tiempo de invierno, o en un día de descanso, 21 porque ese día la gente sufrirá muchísimo. Nunca, desde que Dios creó el mundo hasta ahora, la gente ha sufrido tanto como sufrirá ese día; y jamás volverá a sufrir así. 22 Dios ama a quienes él ha elegido, y por eso el tiempo de sufrimiento no será muy largo. Si no fuera así, todos morirían.
23 »Si en esos días alguien les dice: “Miren, aquí está el Mesías”, o “allí está el Mesías”, no le crean. 24 Porque vendrán falsos profetas y falsos mesías, y harán cosas tan maravillosas que engañarán a la gente. Si pueden, también engañarán a los que Dios ha llamado a seguirlo. 25 Ya antes les había dicho a ustedes 26 que si otros vienen y les anuncian: “¡El Mesías está en el desierto!”, no vayan. Y si les dicen: “¡El Mesías está escondido allí!”, no lo crean. 27 Cuando yo, el Hijo del hombre, venga, no me esconderé. Todos me verán, pues mi venida será como un relámpago que ilumina todo el cielo. 28 Todo el mundo sabe que donde se juntan los buitres, allí hay un cadáver. Así será cuando yo venga: todos lo sabrán.
El regreso del Hijo del hombre
(Mc 13.24-37Lc 17.26-30Lc 34-36Lc 21.25-33)29 Jesús continuó diciendo:
—Cuando pase ese tiempo de sufrimiento:
“El sol se pondrá oscuro,
y la luna dejará de brillar.
Las estrellas caerán,
y temblarán los poderes
que están en el cielo.”
30 »Entonces todos verán en el cielo una señal, la cual indicará que yo, el Hijo del hombre, vengo de nuevo. Y cuando me vean venir entre las nubes del cielo, con mucho poder y gloria, todos los países del mundo temblarán de miedo. 31 Y enviaré por todo el mundo a mis ángeles con una gran trompeta, para que reúnan a mis seguidores.
La lección de la higuera
32 »Aprendan la enseñanza que da la higuera. Cuando a este árbol le salen ramas tiernas y hojas nuevas, ustedes saben que ya se acerca el verano. 33 Del mismo modo, cuando vean que todo está pasando como les he dicho, sabrán que pronto vendré de nuevo. 34 Les aseguro que todo esto pasará antes de que mueran algunos de los que ahora están vivos. 35 El cielo y la tierra dejarán de existir, pero mis palabras permanecerán para siempre.
36 »Nadie sabe el día ni la hora en que yo vendré; no lo saben ni siquiera los ángeles del cielo. Es más, tampoco yo lo sé. Solo Dios, mi Padre, lo sabe.
37 »Cuando yo, el Hijo del hombre, venga otra vez, la gente estará viviendo como en la época de Noé. 38 En ese tiempo la gente seguía comiendo, bebiendo y casándose, hasta el momento mismo en que Noé entró en la casa flotante; y luego vino la inundación. 39 La gente no sabía lo que pasaba, hasta el momento en que llegó el diluvio y todos se ahogaron. Algo así pasará cuando yo, el Hijo del hombre, venga otra vez. 40 Si en ese momento hay dos hombres trabajando en el campo, me llevaré a uno y dejaré al otro. 41 Si dos mujeres están moliendo granos, me llevaré a una y dejaré a la otra. 42 Por eso, estén siempre alerta, pues ustedes no saben el día en que yo, su Señor, vendré otra vez. 43 Les aseguro que si el dueño de una casa supiera a qué hora va a llegar el ladrón, vigilaría la casa y no permitiría que el ladrón entrara. 44 Del mismo modo, ustedes deben estar atentos y preparados, porque yo, el Hijo del hombre, llegaré cuando menos lo esperen.
Los sirvientes
(Lc 12.41-48)45 »¿Quién es el sirviente responsable y atento? Es aquel a quien el amo deja a cargo de toda su familia, para darles de comer a su debido tiempo. 46 ¡Qué feliz es el sirviente si su dueño lo encuentra cumpliendo sus órdenes! 47 Les aseguro que el dueño lo pondrá a administrar todas sus posesiones. 48 Pero supongamos que un sirviente malo piensa: “Mi amo salió de viaje y tardará mucho en volver”, 49 y comienza a golpear a sus compañeros, y a comer y beber con borrachos. 50 Cuando vuelva su amo, en el día y la hora en que el sirviente menos lo espere, 51 lo castigará como se castiga a todos los que engañan a sus amos. Entonces llorará y le rechinarán de terror los dientes.
1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 ¶ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. 23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 ¶ Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 ¶ But of that day and hour knoweth no man , no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noe were , so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42 ¶ Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. 45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; 49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; 50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him , and in an hour that he is not aware of, 51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
