La gloria de Dios y la honra del hombre

1 Señor y Dios nuestro,
¡cuán glorioso es tu nombre en toda la tierra!
¡Has puesto tu gloria sobre los cielos!
2 Las alabanzas de los niños de pecho
son tu mejor defensa contra tus enemigos;
ellas silencian a tus vengativos adversarios.
3 Cuando contemplo el cielo, obra de tus dedos,
y la luna y las estrellas que has creado,
4 me pregunto:
¿Qué es el ser humano, para que en él pienses?
¿Qué es la humanidad, para que la tomes en cuenta?
5 Hiciste al hombre poco menor que un dios,
y lo colmaste de gloria y de honra.
6 ¡Lo has hecho señor de las obras de tus manos!
¡Todo lo has puesto debajo de sus pies!
7 ¡Todas las ovejas y todos los toros!
¡Todos los animales del bosque!
8 ¡Las aves en el cielo y los peces en el mar!
¡Todo lo que surca las profundidades del mar!
9 Señor y Dios nuestro,
¡cuán glorioso es tu nombre en toda la tierra!

1 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
